On startup of a fresh install of Kyno the following screen is presented which allows you different ways to activate Kyno. See below for the different options.
If you're new to Kyno you can download the application from http://kyno.software/download and sign up for a free trial from within the app. Click the button "Start a Free Trial" at the bottom of the welcome screen, sign up and your 30 day trial will begin immediately.
If you've signed up for a trial earlier you can still try Kyno again for each new minor version (e.g. 1.6 -> 1.7) for 7 days.
If you've purchased a license of Kyno from our website or through one of our resellers you should've received a license serial number in the form KYNO-0000-0000-0000-0000-0000 (the prefix can vary). Paste the serial number in the text field on the welcome screen and click "Activate This Computer". On the following screen, please enter the email address associated with your serial number:
- If you've purchased from our website this is the email you've purchased with
- If you've purchased with one of our resellers or partners you may have to associate the serial number with an email address on first activation. Please use that same email address for all future activations.
The activation will count against your allowed maximum number of activations. In the case of a personal license that's 2 distinct computers, in the case of per-seat license that's one distinct machine per seat purchased.
Promo codes, demo or dealer codes
We regularly run promotions with partners that may give you some benefits over a regular trial or offer you a free license for a limited amount of time. You'll receive a code from our partner that you can paste into the text field on the welcome screen and click "Activate This Computer". You may have to associate the code with an email address on first activation. Please use that same email address for all future activations.
On some promotions you may receive a discount coupon code upon first activation. Keep that separate code around to get your discount when you decide to purchase a license on our webstore.
Offline License / No Internet Connection
To activate a computer Kyno must be able to connect to the license server over the Internet. Please make sure you allow temporary access for Kyno if you use tools like Little Snitch.
If your computer can't connect to the Internet you can contact our support team to receive an offline license for your computer. Please include the Machine ID that's displayed on the welcome dialog.
Activation Limit Reached
A personal license allows activation of 3 distinct computers operated by the person who purchased the license. A per-seat license allows one distinct machine per seat purchased. If you've reached the activation limit and you can't deactivate the old machine anymore, please contact our support team to have us reset your activation. If possible include information about the old computer or the computers that you're still using (model or network name) so we can identify the one that's no longer used.
License Invalid for Version
If you receive a message that you can't use your license with the current version of Kyno you're update period has likely run out. Click on the link under the message to purchase another year of updates.
Some licenses are time-limited and expire at a fixed point in time. You'll need to convert your license into a permanent license buy purchasing a license on our webstore or contacting the partner or reseller you've received the license from.
