Workflow for FCPX?

CG Coffyn, Sorry what I meant to say was Multicam clips. If I have two clips from different cameras is there a way to link this clips up after into FCPX or even into Kyno. I don't want to do two clips or it could take twice as long?

coach arballo - One thing I really like about Kyno is the ability to round-trip with a number of bits of metadata (notes, markers, range-based keywords, scene, keywords, etc). That is, enter metadata in Kyno or FCP and keep the two in sync. I haven't used compound clips much yet, but for our workflow I would put in all the metadata for each clip and/or group of clips (scenes or whatever) after ingesting the footage. Though I know that takes a lot of time upfront, but then the investment pays off in the longterm. For us currently, I would not see having enough compound clips that I would need to track those, but you never know.
Lesspain keeps developing Kyno, so maybe some day it will do what you need for Compound Clips. The future is bright.
CG Coffyn Thank you. I also did the Summit this year. I wish Kyno were able to do compound clips, otherwise I would have to go through camera A and B which would take me twice as long to meta tag all the footage.

Will do coach arballo! Unfortunately I haven't done much in Kyno recently. I did attend the excellent virtual FCPX Summit recently and heard a few different people mention using Kyno, but no one talked about their particular workflow.

CG Coffyn If you find anything please let me know as well. I have interviews that are shot with several cameras. I usually make a Multicam clip in FCPX and then do all my keyboarding so I don't have to do it twice. But I haven't figured out a way to do that in Kyno ?
Hello, I have some problem with the FCPX workflow and the Kyno workflow in general:
– If I made subclass to prepare an edit, it would be great to have the possibility to attach keyword to this subclip, as to use it inside FCPX
– fcpxml export are not well formatted, for example, if I export an event from FCPX, here is the line for asset-clip:

Where it is a problem with the coma space separating keywords.
It is a problem for FCP import but also because I would use Kyno for my team to prepare clip, tag it and use the xml to parse it on interactive software (TouchDesigner) For the moment I can only use FCPX to do it and I would prefer to use Kyno.

Hi, Thomas. Have you managed to get an FCPX workflow video into the pipeline? If you may be able to suggest ways of integrating Tentacle sync (and seperate audio files that will need to be synced with video/audio files - ensuring the metadata is consistent and stays in the .wav files, for example). Yeah, it's funny, right after I posted that I found this excellent video with Robert Krüger at NAB 2017 saying the same thing about there not being "a" workflow with Kyno. I get that now.
I think I was still just a little bit confused about the dragging and dropping when you have a project already in FCPX with some metadata and some that was added in Kyno to get them to merge together. I vaguely remember seeing a video somewhere that sort of mentioned it. So I tried dragging a clip from Kyno onto the same clip in a FCPX Event and just ended up copying and pasting a duplicate of the same clip in FCPX. I know it's simple and just my user error, just trying to wrap my head around that. Is there any document or user guide that talks about that? Thanks, I appreciate the help!
Hi CG, good point - we haven't produced a video on how to use Kyno with FCPX yet, but are planning to do so in the coming weeks.
In general there isn't "the" workflow with Kyno and FCPX as Kyno is such a versatile tool and it depends on your type of work and team. But in general people use Kyno to capture metadata as early in the process (offload from camera, then tag and annotate material, transfer it to production storage), manage media on production storage or shared drives, add more metadata (like markers on the most interesting parts, subclips for stuff you want to use in edit) and then transfer this metadata to Final Cut, so you have a project that's already pretty well prepared by others.
There's a video on how to use Kyno with Resolve, most of which can be applied to Final Cut as well:
Kyno's FCPX integration is even more advanced as you can drag and drop clips from Kyno to FCPX, import metadata from FCPX to Kyno (also by drag and drop).
